Abstract

Medical technology for sustainable healthcare.
The potential of innovative technology for realising sustainable healthcare is discussed by Prof. dr. Cock van Duijn (genomics and metabolomics in epidemiological biobanks and organ-on-chip models) and Prof. dr. Jenny Dankelman (novel medical instruments, haptics, training and simulation systems for minimally invasive techniques). Prof. dr. Martine de Vries discusses how the traditional distinction between care and research impedes the realisation of improvements and innovations in medicine. A 'Learning Healthcare System' can overcome these problems but also has ethical and legal challenges. Dr. Agaath Sluijter illustrates how Medical Delta 2.0 catalyses health innovation and cooperation.
