Jan-Frens is partner at Holland Capital since early 2018. At Holland Capital he is focusing on early stage investments in the field of medical devices, diagnostics and digital health. To realize a long-term impact on healthcare, a combination of technology, knowledge of healthcare processes, implementation power and, above all, perseverance is crucial. He invest in entrepreneurs who have shown that they have this combination of skills and who are eager to take the next step with Holland Capital to scale their business.
As investor and board member he is actively involved in portfolio companies like LivAssured (detection of epileptic attacks), CytoSmart (live cell imaging using AI and cloud computing), and Prolira (delirium detection).
He has been working with start-ups and breakthrough healthcare innovations as an advisor and investor for more than ten years. Before joining Holland Capital, Jan-Frens has been working as a senior investment manager at OostNL Capital. He has closed over 25 transactions and has been actively involved with successful companies like Mimetas (organ-on-a-chip), Xenikos (innovative immunotherapy) and Screenpoint Medical (Artificial Intelligence in Radiology). He also worked as director at the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency in Boston (USA), the Centre for Medical Imaging at the University of Twente, and Technopolis Group. He holds an MSc in Science & Innovation Management from the University of Utrecht.
