Carl Moons

Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and director of research, UMC Utrecht - Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care and co-initiator, Health Innovation Initiative Holland

Carl Moons is professor of Clinical Epidemiology and director of research at the Julius Center, and affiliated to Oxford University (GB) and VanderBilt University (VS). His scientific career (>500 publications) focuses on methodological and applied research on the impact of non-medicinal innovations for patients, citizens and healthcare. He is chair of the Dutch Hotline and Expert center for Unintended effects of Implants (‘Meldpunt en Expertisecentrum Bijwerkingen Implantaten’: MEBI) and co-initiator of the new nationwide initiative ‘Health Innovation Infrastructure (Hii) Holland’, that aims to bring new medical devices in a responsible way to the healthcare system. He also chaired the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) committee ‘Evaluation of new technology in healthcare’.
