Mergers & Acquisitions as innovation strategy
Plenary afternoon programme | 16:00 - 17:30 | Rotterdam Hall
The route of a new medical treatment or medicine to the market takes many years and burns an immense amount of capital. Along the way, small and large companies often enter symbiotic partnerships in which one party brings in the promising innovation and the other the capital to fund the development. Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are often considered as a win-win strategy for all parties, bringing innovation forward and offering an exit strategy for investors to capitalize on their investments. There can also be downsides, especially for smaller companies. What are the advantages and disadvantages of M&A? When is a M&A successful, and what can we learn from them for future business?
