Abstract

Health is not for sale, is it?
Health system financing as we know it is unsustainable. We need new models to sustain it. Increasingly we observe patients are consumers of health. Inevitably patient/consumer and provider need new incentives that keep ‘health’ going rather than disease. We need a mechanism to make the business case for health. We propose a new business model for health called a ‘vitality contract’ championed by the NPHF Federation for Health, where the consumer and provider both invest in the health of the consumer.
