Director, The Netherlands Public Health Federation
Thomas Plochg, Ph.D. MSc. (1973) Dutch, worked as a hybrid combining policy and academic work. Since 2014 he is the director of the Federation for Health, a public-private network unifying almost 70 organisations promoting a fundamental paradigm shift towards more prevention in healthcare and society. From 1999 to 2018 he worked in several academic roles at the department of public health of the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. In 2006, he obtained his Ph.D. degree on the basis of the dissertation “Building a Tower of Babel in health care: theory and practice of community-based integrated care”. His main expertise and interest is the future sustainability of health systems with special reference to the instilling of health as the leitmotif for transformative change, new business models based on health, complex adaptive systems thinking and the nurturing of new health professionals who are 21st century-proof.
